The Fruit of the Spirit – Joy

Hey, ladies! Today, we will be talking about joy, as you can see from the title. Let’s get started!

Definition: the emotion of great delight or happiness caused by something exceptionally good or satisfying; keen pleasure; elation

Joy is important because it keeps everyone on earth from wandering around grumbling about everything. Joy has many sources. One example of mine is when my baby sister was born. I really did cry tears of joy (I have three brothers). Other sources can be holidays, relatives coming to visit, etc. Some people just have a joyful spirit. Not all sources of joy are lasting, however. This is because of our sinful world. The only lasting joy comes from Christ. This is the kind of joy that is mentioned in Galatians 5:22-23.

This was when Nehemiah and Ezra read the Law to the people of Israel after they came back from exile: “Then he said to them, ‘Go your way. Eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.'” Nehemiah 8:10

So, here are some ways to show  the joy of Christ:

  1. Obey the authorities with cheerfulness.
  2. Don’t complain when things don’t go your way, or when something doesn’t go as planned.
  3. Smile at everyone you meet.

Have a great day!!! 🙂

Verse Of The Week

Verse of the Week 9/12/17

Hey, friends!

This week’s verse is:

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous runs into it and is safe.” Proverbs 18:10

When trouble comes, where do you run? What is your first reaction to hardship? Do you run directly to God? Or do you run to worldly assets that are sure to fail you?  When we are facing hardships of any kind we must always run to God. The Lord will keep us safe and guide us.  He will lead us with truth and wisdom; the world won’t.

Hold Me

Hold Me

She’s running. Running away from the hurt. The hurt that just keeps getting thrown in her face and can’t seem to go away.

She keeps asking God why? Why is this life so hard? Why am I here?

Life can be a restless game, and the only way to keep going is to win. But how can we win a game that seems to have an unattainable goal?

For the longest time she lived in this scary world, and didn’t let it bother her. For the longest time she never cried, always kept a brave face on and acted undefeated. Now, she lets salty tears stream carelessly down her face, as she just keeps running.

All her life she was so sure things would get better. That maybe the tear she felt in her heart would be mended. The emptiness that she felt in her soul would be filled. The cold that seemed to envelope her would be melted away by warmth.

She felt lonely. It’s all she felt. And for the first time in her life she couldn’t bare it. She hated it. She wanted more- more than just the hollow feeling that could be filled only temporarily. She wanted an everlasting sufficiency that would fill her up completely.

Getting to the end of the road she let’s her knees hit the pavement crying out, God, help me.

That feeling of emptiness inside of her tugs at her heart, and she continues to cry out, God, I can’t do this on my own. I need you. I need you to hold me.

Without God we have nothing. Without God we are lonely. We are lost. Without God, that tear in our hearts can’t be mended. We can’t be put back together. We can’t go on in life alone- without God.

He is what sustains us. He is what keeps us whole. Without Him we are nothing at all- nothing at all.

She cries out, God, hold me! God, sustain me! Don’t leave me. Love me. I am yours, Lord.

What do we claim to be without God? How do we live without God? We can’t. Alone, we live in a darkness that is so strong we get lost and can’t find our way back home. But with God, we have a light that can outshine the blackness that surrounds us. Alone, we are weak but with God, we are armored with strength.

We must trust Him. Surrender our lives to Him. In doing so He will lift us back on our feet. Direct our paths and point us in the right direction. He will hold you. Carry you in His arms.

Accept His grace. Let His love surround you. Let His peace flood your soul. Let His light encompass you. Let Him hold you.
