Verse Of The Week

Verse of the Week 9/12/17

Screen Shot 2017-09-08 at 5.20.26 PM.png

Hey, friends!

This week’s verse is:

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous runs into it and is safe.” Proverbs 18:10

When trouble comes, where do you run? What is your first reaction to hardship? Do you run directly to God? Or do you run to worldly assets that are sure to fail you?  When we are facing hardships of any kind we must always run to God. The Lord will keep us safe and guide us.  He will lead us with truth and wisdom; the world won’t.

Hold Me

Screen Shot 2017-09-08 at 3.20.02 PM.png

Hold Me

     She’s running. Running away from the hurt. The hurt that just keeps getting thrown in her face and can’t seem to go away.

     She keeps asking God why? Why is this life so hard? Why am I here?

     Life can be a restless game, and the only way to keep going is to win. But how can we win a game that seems to have an unattainable goal?

     For the longest time she lived in this scary world, and didn’t let it bother her. For the longest time she never cried, always kept a brave face on and acted undefeated. Now, she lets salty tears stream carelessly down her face, as she just keeps running.

     All her life she was so sure things would get better. That maybe the tear she felt in her heart would be mended. The emptiness that she felt in her soul would be filled. The cold that seemed to envelope her would be melted away by warmth.

     She felt lonely. It’s all she felt. And for the first time in her life she couldn’t bare it. She hated it. She wanted more- more than just the hollow feeling that could be filled only temporarily. She wanted an everlasting sufficiency that would fill her up completely.

     Getting to the end of the road she let’s her knees hit the pavement crying out, God, help me.

     That feeling of emptiness inside of her tugs at her heart, and she continues to cry out, God, I can’t do this on my own. I need you. I need you to hold me.

     Without God we have nothing. Without God we are lonely. We are lost. Without God, that tear in our hearts can’t be mended. We can’t be put back together. We can’t go on in life alone- without God.

     He is what sustains us. He is what keeps us whole. Without Him we are nothing at all- nothing at all.

     She cries out, God, hold me! God, sustain me! Don’t leave me. Love me. I am yours, Lord.

     What do we claim to be without God? How do we live without God? We can’t. Alone, we live in a darkness that is so strong we get lost and can’t find our way back home. But with God, we have a light that can outshine the blackness that surrounds us. Alone, we are weak but with God, we are armored with strength.

     We must trust Him. Surrender our lives to Him. In doing so He will lift us back on our feet. Direct our paths and point us in the right direction. He will hold you. Carry you in His arms.

Accept His grace. Let His love surround you. Let His peace flood your soul. Let His light encompass you. Let Him hold you.

Verse Of The Week

Verse of the Week 8/22/17

verse of week

Hi, ladies!

This week’s verse is:

“And the peace of God which passeth all understanding, shall keep your minds and hearts through Christ Jesus.” ~ Philippians 4:7

When we are firmly rooted in a deep relationship with Christ, we enjoy a sense of peace that is beyond our knowing.  Even when the world around us is in a whirlwind, we can still be confident and calm.  That is because we know that when the Lord is with us, we have absolutely nothing to fear.

Courage, Short Stories

Be the Stars

be the stars

Hey, girls!

Lately, I have been reading a lot of stories and doing a lot of research on stars and I was really inspired to write this! I really felt the need to share this with you all, for it’s something I feel very passionate about.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Be the Stars
      Look up at the stars. See how they glow in the dark, burning through the night sky? They illuminate the inky blackness. They make light so we can see. Just like stars function as a light in the night sky, we can be lights in this world of darkness.
     Let us speak truths. Let us defend our beliefs and what we stand for. With our Savior as the moon, lighting up the whole universe, we can be the stars, setting the world aglow with our words, our actions, and the truth. Aim for the sky as you make the case for Christ. Liberty. Truth. Justice. Freedom.
     When you look out of your window at night and you see the stars’ shiny glow piercing through the dark- look for you. You can be one of those stars out there. Use your voice. By speaking the truth and defending what’s right; you are acting as a light, irradiating through this gloomy, obscure darkness that has taken hold of our world. If we are not representing the King of light, then we are exhibiting the immoral attributes of the king of darkness.
     The darker the world, the brighter you must shine. As the stars are surrounded by darkness, they refuse to become apart of that tenebrosity. And so must we.  We have to set a firm foundation and reflect the light of truth. No matter what happens, what challenges or trials we face in the process, we can’t let that get in our way. Keep on glowing. Keep on shining. Keep on doing what’s right, no matter what the consequence.
     Make your choice. You can set yourself a firm foundation and let your light radiate; or, you can stand by and watch while the world becomes hopelessly lost.
     I know where I stand. I know what I need to do. I am going to burn bright. I am going to take place in igniting a fire that will eliminate the darkness.
     What will you decide?
     Come, take courage; be a STAR.
So?? What’d ya think? Did it inspire you in any way?  Are you going to take a stand and be a star?  Let me know in the comments below! I love to chat! 🙂
Mornings Spent with Jesus
2017-06-28
Hi, girls!!
I apologize for slacking recently.  This past week I’ve been serving as a huddle leader for FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) camp (amazing organization btw, so totally check it out), and it consumed the majority of my time.
Today, I want to talk to you about how I start my mornings and I want to encourage you to start your day this way too!
Every morning after I wake up (or at least most mornings), first thing I do is make my juice.  Nothing like starting the day off with something fresh!
Then I sit at the table and pray.  I talk to God about everything I feel I need to tell Him.  I could be thanking Him, asking for forgiveness, praying for others or even for myself, that He would give me wisdom and help me to always do what’s right.
DSC_0693Then I go into my devotions.  I’ve been reading one chapter from 10 different books of the Bible each day.
Today I encourage each and everyone of you to start your day with the Lord.  Spend your morning with Jesus.  Even if you don’t have the time to read your Bible right away, pray.  Talk with God, let Him know what you’re feeling.
For me, starting my day off spending time with the Lord really helps me throughout the rest of the day.  Even if that time isn’t long, staying connected with God is so important.  It strengthens out relationship with Him.
How do you start your mornings?  Do you have a time of day set aside specifically for God?  How do you stay connected with Jesus?
Have a great week, girls!
Taking Life One Step at a Time
one step at a time
We often find ourselves getting so caught up in everything all at once.  Social media, sports, friends, all of our goals in life.  While all of these things aren’t bad, they can still consume our daily lives.  First, we need to focus on the most important things in life, like reading our Bible, spending time in prayer and talking to God.
Sometimes we just need to take a break from everything else that’s going on so we can keep our main focus on the Lord.
We need to take life one step at a time.  Trying to do everything at once just won’t work.  It’s important that we realize the time God has given us and use it wisely.  Yes, we want to be able to do so many amazing things, but that doesn’t mean we should have to cram it all in at the same time.
Have a great week, girls!
Verse of the Week 5/2/17
verse of week 5 2 17.jpg
Hi, lovelies!
Here is this week’s verse. 🙂
“A good name is more desirable than great riches; but to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.” ~ Proverbs 22:1.
Our reputations should matter more to us than wealth.  We need to be people of integrity.  For that there is no substitution.  Pursuing a good reputation along with doing what’s right, is much more important than great riches.  As Christians we shouldn’t look at people’s material wealth to decide their worth, it’s all about the heart.  A good name is going to bring God glory, and isn’t that what we’re here for?  To bring God glory?
I hope you liked this verse.  Have a great day, girls!
Verse Of The Week
Verse of the Week 3/8/17
Verse of the Week 3717 (1)
Hi, girls!! Here is this week’s verse:
“Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” ~ Proverbs 3:5-6
This verse is a great one to memorize!  It is so important to trust in God no matter what. In life we can get so busy trying to accomplish our goals, that we loose sight of who is in control.  As Christians, we are to submit to the Lord’s direction, knowing that he knows what is best for us.
Verse Of The Week
Verse of the Week 2/16/17
v-of-the-week
Hello, friends!
I hope you all are enjoying this beautiful Thursday!  So, I’d like to apologize for not posting every week.  The past couple of weeks have been really busy. But be sure to see a verse of the week more weekly from now on. 😊
Anyway, onto this week’s verse!
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” ~ Joshua 1:9
Isn’t this an awesome promise? God promises to always be with us. Through the good and bad he will always be there.  So no matter what situation you’re going through, take courage and do not be afraid! Because when God is on our side, there is absolutely nothing to fear.
Have an amazing day, girls!
Beauty, Short Stories
Reflection
reflection
Reflection
            I entered my room and slammed the door behind me. I had a rough day at school. I thought I fit in, but apparently not. I thought I looked pretty, but I guess I’m not good enough for everyone else.  What does it matter anyway? I’m just the girl who sits in the back of the classroom, alone. Nobody pays any attention to me, so why should I even bother trying to prove myself good enough for those kids? If they don’t like me as I am, then I shouldn’t have anything to do with them. Yet, my heart longs to.
            I walk over to the full-length mirror hung on the wall.   I see a girl. A girl of the age fourteen, her auburn hair in a messy bun, her sea green eyes on the verge of tears. I know she’s asked God so many times in her life why can’t she be excepted? Must she put on a mask and be someone nothing like herself to fit in? To be excepted by her peers? Or was fitting in or being excepted by the world around her even that important? No. She knew it wasn’t.
That girl in the mirror, that girl is who I am. That’s my reflection. When will my reflection show who I am inside? It doesn’t matter about the outside. I guess I try too hard to be different, to be nothing like my normal self. I try so hard to be like other people in my society I am ignoring who God is calling me to be. He wants me to be who he intended me to be. He wants me to be myself. No matter how hard I try I’ll never be able to be somebody else. I can put on all of the makeup, I can dress the way they dress, I can talk and act like them, but I could never be someone other then me. Myself. I need to be who God has called me to be.
I need to put aside all thoughts I ever had of how to fit in, or how I can be excepted. For I already am, by God. By my creator and my Savior. The one who made the stars. The one who already has my life planned out. The one who guides my every step. Now, it’s my choice as to whether or not I am going to listen and except his guidance and instruction. I say yes. Yes, I’ll listen to You, God.
I don’t need the world and the things and the people in it to make me feel happy, or excepted. I need you, God. For you love me just as I am. I don’t need to be like anyone else but me. That girl in the mirror, she’s just my reflection. Not who I am inside.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I wrote this a little while ago.  It kind of reflects on the post I did a little bit ago, Verse of the Week, 1/3/17.  It was on the verse Proverbs 31:30.  I feel that in this day and age, in society so many girls (and guys alike) feel the need to have to fit in.  As long as they’re looking cool and hanging with the “in” crowd it’s all good.  But no, it’s not.  Who cares about fitting in or being excepted by the people around us, when we’re already excepted by God?  As the quote goes, “I would rather stand with God and be judged by the world, then stand with the world and be judged by God”(Unknown).  Like I’ve said before, it’s all about the heart.  Make sure you’re right with God before anything else. He’s the real judge.
