Love

Love Them Like He Loves Them

We are called to lead others to life in Christ, but it’s a calling that’s definitely more challenging than it sounds. We live in a world full of lost and hurting people, people we are called to reach. It’s the boy in your class with anger in his eyes. It’s the girl next door who seems to be fading away. It’s your friend who is always smiling, but you have no idea what’s underneath. You are called to stand out and shine the light of Jesus to these people, but sometimes you feel a little lost. Like they’re just too far away from you. You’re afraid to make the wrong move, afraid to do or say the wrong thing. Or maybe you just don’t know where to start.

Let me tell you this: the most effective way to reach people is to love them the way Christ loves them. Love them sacrificially. Love them even when they mess up. Love them when they don’t deserve it. Why? Because that’s exactly what Christ did for you, and he did it for them too. He loves them! He loves them so much that he died for them. They don’t deserve it, but he has covered their sin. He took the punishment they deserved. He is offering them the free gift of eternal life with a God who loves and loves and loves. This is a LIFE CHANGING kind of love. This love is radical. Unfathomable. Powerful. Everlasting. By loving people the way Christ loves them, you will be different. You will stand out. When you love like that, people wonder why. That’s how you point someone to Christ.

So, what are ways you can love people the way Christ loves them? Let’s take a look at Scripture.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 says, “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

I recently read something about replacing “love” with your own name and reading it that way. I’ll use my name as an example, so for me it would be this:

“Misty is patient and kind; Misty does not envy or boast; Misty is not arrogant or rude. Misty does not insist on her own way; Misty is not irritable or resentful; Misty does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Misty bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

If I want to reflect Christ, if I want to love with that kind of love, I need to remember this and set it as a goal in my life. Replace “love” with your own name and read it to yourself. Ask yourself: What doesn’t match up here? What are areas I can work on in my life to love the way Christ loves?

Look for opportunities to love people. Forgive. Ask them how they’re doing, and really mean it. Listen to them. Pray for people. Ask them if there is anything in particular you can pray for them about. Yeah, sometimes it can be awkward, but you gotta step out of that comfort zone! Aim to be remembered for the way you love. Lastly, PRAY for that kind of love. Pray for God to fill you with his kind of love. Pray for him to push you and challenge you to love people like he loves them, to help you see them as he sees them. Souls are on the line here. You have a mission! Love them like he loves them. That is how you truly stand out.

Colossians 3:12-15:

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.

Girls, you are loved so much more than you can imagine! I hope you all have a wonderful day, and that this has touched you and encouraged you in some way. God bless! ❤

Faith, Kindness, Love, The Bible

Hi girls! I would like to talk to you about a very important subject today. The subject is judging people.

“Judge not, that ye be not judged.

For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.”

I bet your saying, “WOW.” I know, same. Let me break it down for you. First, “mote” means “speck”. Does that make more sense? And the “beam” is like a beam of wood. So it’s like me saying to my brother, “Let me get that speck out of your eye,” when I have a huge beam of wood sticking out of my eye! When you look at it that way, it makes you realize how blind we can be about our own sins.

Now let’s get to the point. Should we judge people? “Judge not, that ye be not judged.” So obviously, we shouldn’t judge. “But what if I see a brother or sister in Christ doing something wrong?” you say. Good question.  Remember when I said that it is so easy to be blind to your own sins? Well, that comes into play here. If we see a brother or sister in Christ doing something wrong, we should search deep inside ourselves for any sins we haven’t repented of. Once we repent of our sins, we should come alongside them lovingly and help them on the right path without criticizing or judging them. That way, we help them, and we make ourselves better too. But we can’t forget that the best thing to do in any situation is pray to God and trust in Him.

I hope this helped you! Oh, and I can’t give all the credit to myself for this post. My Sunday school teacher taught me about this important lesson, and I would like to thank him. Bye!

The Fruit of the Spirit – Love

fruit love

Hey, ladies! So sorry I haven’t posted in a while, but I have had a super busy summer.

So, I wanted to post a little series on the Fruit of the Spirit. Basically, I am going to post the definition from the dictionary, say why it’s important, and then list a verse that mentions it, and a few ways to show it. I will say that many of the Fruits go hand in hand.

The first Fruit is love.

Definition: A feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a parent, child, or friend.

Love is one of the most important things a human needs. Not being loved is one of the biggest fears of the human race. Love fuels us and keeps us going. Just think. If no one gave you a hug, smile, or a word of encouragement for the whole week, how would you feel? I know that I would be pretty depressed. As 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 says, we are nothing without love.

1 Corinthians 13:1-3:

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.

So, here are a few ways that we can show love:

  1. Clear the table and do the dishes for your mom.
  2. Visit a friend who is sick
  3. Read a bedtime story to your little brother or sister

Have a great day!

You Matter

you matter

Hello everyone! K.A here today with you! Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve posted. Life gets busy, things happen, you forget… you guys know how it goes! This probably won’t be a super long post, but I just wanted to give you a word of encouragement today.

All of us go through a time when we feel like no one cares. Like we don’t matter to the world. Everything around us is a blur, and even though we love the people we know, it seems like they’re so far away, and you wish for things you don’t have. There are so many “ifs” filling your life that every time you try to run away, you’re faced with a different one. Should I go to college? Will I get married? You know what you want in life, but what if you have this or have that? What if you want to be a stay at home mom, but you really want to have a job as something else? There are so many options today, so many things spinning around and around you, putting a fog between your questions and the answers. We all go through this time in our lives when we’re figuring things out.

We are looking for someone to tell us everything that is going to happen, and exactly what turns to take in the years ahead. Well, sorry, but it doesn’t always work like that. Sometimes, there isn’t a clear answer for the things ahead. Sometimes, we have to rely on God to help us know what we need to do now, and deal with the future when it becomes the present. When you just need someone to talk to, to cry out to and spill your problems to, there are people there. You can talk to your parents, animals, and even your journals. But no matter how far away he might seem, God is always right there next to you waiting for you to give him your burdens. You can even come and talk to any one of us here at YLFC. There are so many people in the world that love you. Even when you don’t think anyone cares, we do! I love you, and more importantly, GOD loves you. There are so many doubts that are killing people’s good thoughts about themselves. You don’t want to be prideful, but it doesn’t help to tell yourself that you are the ugliest being on the earth, either. I know what it’s like.

There are so many critics in the world today. But you know what? GOD LOVES YOU LIKE YOU ARE!! Every one of us was made special by God’s own hand. I heard a song recently that said “Those hands that carried the cross are now the hands that carry us.” (Held in your hands, by Rush of Fools. I don’t know that I’ve heard the entire song).

God loves you. He made you with His hands. He formed you, and he loves you. The hands that made this world are the hands that made YOU! He made you different than any other person in the whole wide world. You are special. Whether you feel like you’re in a deep pit, and no one notices, or you feel like you’re invisible to the world around you, you are never invisible to God. He doesn’t care if you wear the latest fashions, he doesn’t care if you’re a blonde. He loves everyone, the perfect and imperfect alike.

Matthew 18:12-14 says:

12 How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?

13 And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.

14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.

Luke 15:4 says:

What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

See? He loves us. When you don’t feel like anyone notices you or anyone cares about your future, when you’re lost and confused and can’t think about anything but how no one loves you no matter how hard you try, remember that God loves you. And He is so strong and courageous that he can give you the power to fight, and he can easily get you through whatever you’re going through. God will help you know where to go in time, and He’ll give you hope for the future! Meanwhile, get in your Bible! You’ll find more evidence of his great, great love for us sinners. Jesus loves you!!! You MATTER to Him. God will reveal what you need to know in time. But for now, let Him fight the war in front of you. He gave you this life so you could enjoy it, but also use it to live for and glorify HIM!

YOU MATTER.

This is one I just heard yesterday. It was really good, because I could really relate to it with some of the feelings I’ve had lately. I hope it helps you. This one nearly makes me cry. It’s not the type of song I would usually listen to a lot, but I really like this one!

Another one I heard yesterday on the radio. It’s a very good reminder that God is right there, and He cares about you!

One last one for you all. You are More. I’ve liked this one for a while. It’s definitely worth listening. And another slightly sad hanky-jerker. You don’t have to listen to any of these, I just thought I’d put them on if you did.

Oh wait, there is one more. 😉 Whoops. Here you go:

I just came across it and had to put it on. Our music group has sung this before for people. It’s a really good song.

I hope this gave you an extra hope for tomorrow. You do matter, and God cares about every one of you out there. I hope that you’ll remember that there are other people going through hard things, too and that you would give them an extra hand up. Tell them that they matter too, and that they are loved by God. Help them know they’re not alone. I love you all. Don’t feel scared to talk to any of us here at YLFC. We’re always here for you guys. We want to talk. You are all so precious to God. Remember that. Remember to lift others up with your words this week. I love you guys so much.

Love

Where’s the Love?

wheres-the-love1

Hello, ladies! Today’s post is about something we talked about a while ago in my Wednesday night Bible study. It was a special message for Valentine’s Day.

The pastor said that because we are all created in the image of God, deep down we all want to be loved and cherished. None of us want to be left out or ignored. So, if all humans want to be loved, then why is there such a lack of love in the world?

First of all, where does love come from, and why do we love? Love comes from God. We love others because God first loved us.

“We love because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:19

Many people think that we can only love if the other person loves us back. However, that is just not true. Love goes from God to us, and then it goes from us to others. The greatest act of love was when God sent his Son to die for us.

“but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

Because God loved us enough to send his Son to die for us, we ought to love one another. This is probably one of the most challenging things in the Christian walk. How is it possible to love that girl at school who beats you down at every opportunity? How can I show love to my siblings who annoy me every day? One of the answers to that is prayer. Ask God to help you love that person. This can be hard. We don’t really want to love that person. We want to keep on hating them. This is why it can really take a lot of willpower to pray for that person, to love them. However, if you take the plunge and do it, God really does answer your prayers. Trust me, I have had this experience. It may take a week, and it could take a month, or years. If you keep praying, God will answer.

Now, back to the question: “Why is there such a lack of love in the world?”  The answer is sin. Sin is what separated us from God in the first place. Sin keeps us from loving others as we should. It can be in many forms: pride, hate, selfishness. We must ask God to help us overcome that in order to love other people.

What are some qualities of love? Read 1 Corinthians 13: 4-13. This chapter shows us some really good ways to show love to people. We can be patient with our siblings and show kindness to other people. We can smile at people around town. We can build each other up with our words. Just doing this can show others the love of Christ.

Well, I think that’s all for now! I know this post is about loving others, but here is one really important thing to remember: The most important Person in the Universe loves you with an immeasurable love. No matter what happens, He will always, ALWAYS love you.

Have a great day!
